On side one of the original LP, Dylan is backed by an electric rock and roll band - a move that further alienated him from some of his former peers in the folk song community. This album was the game changer as it merged to dominant genres together giving the music industry a breath of fresh air and the encouragement to experiment. On the same note I would argue that this was the spark that lit the whole musical revolution of the sixties as it undoubtedly influenced The Beatles' Rubber Soul which was the first non rock n' roll album for them, which led to the release of Revolver, that giving inspiration to the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds and this giving the influence the create .
