Just received as a present, and was purchased from Target. There's a sticker on the cellophane that states it is a pressing from a digital remastering of the original analog tapes. This made me nervous. I didn't want to offend, so I played it. The first thing I noticed is that the vinyl was immaculately clean upon removal from the sleeve. I haven't seen a brand new record this clean in a long time. I didn't even bother cleaning it as I do with most new records.I spun it up, and wow, i was blown away. It sounds great, start to finish. No pops, crackles, nothing. Just a really solid and clean pressing. The vocals on Eleanor Rigby sounded a tad bit compressed, but honestly, I'm not sure if that's how it is supposed to sound or not.Disclaimer: I do not own an earlier pressing of this album, so this pressing might sound awful to some. But for those of you in my situation, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this pressing, especially if you need this album. Sounds really good to my ears!Lastly, there was a small sticker on the back of the jacket on the cellophane that states it was made in Germany. I'm not sure if they are all pressed there or not, but for what it's worth.Know of a better sounding pressing? I'd love to hear about it!

The remaster does not sound that bad. It sounds very good, compared to another remaster I know( looking at you Abbey Road). There is a bit of noticable IGD on side 1 on the last track, byt that track is way too hot to be on the end of the record. Otherwise, very good remaster.

My runout is virtually the same, except on side 1 it has m4 instead of m3 and on side 2 I have m3 instead of m2S17. The first mark looks like what you describe. I see dots above the | | lines, so to me it does look like i...i, except the marks in the middle are small short lines instead of dots. Seems realistic to me that it's Sean Magee's mark.

I have it as part of the US release of the Stereo vinyl box set. A lot of people have complained about the quality of the pressings done at Rainbo but all the ones I've played have sounded great. Guess it's a matter of personal preference if you care about them being sourced from the 2009 digital remasters.

In my book there is almost nothing finer than a summer album release, especially if that release involved Bob Dylan, The Beatles or The Rolling Stones ... music that I could carry over into the winter months, yet still feel that summer warmth whenever I spun the platter. There was an awful lot happening in the world by August of 1966, one need only consider the fact that Dylan’s ‘Highway 61’ had been released just the year before, and ‘Blonde On Blonde’ had just been hit the streets in May. The Beatles were obviously feeling the effects and influences of ‘Highway 61,’ and were no doubt scrambling to meld the surrealistic influences from ‘Blonde On Blonde’ into their own work. I remember George Harrison saying, “I quote Bob Dylan like others quote the bible.” So Dylan’s work, without a doubt had a huge influence of the boys and their perception of not only musical style, but for the content, and the manner in which that content was delivered. And if I may be so bold, it is my opinion that The Beatles pulled pure magic from their collective hats ... with the exception of ‘Yellow Submarine,” which really doesn’t seem to be part of the contextual flow found on the rest of this outing. All of the songs are relentless in the pursuit of inner reflections, and thoughts on the current situations The Beatles now found themselves involved. As chilling and off the wall as the ‘Sgt. Pepper’ album cover was, I think many people forget how over the top, and truly psychedelic the ‘Revolver’ cover was ... matter of fact, in many ways, the ‘Sgt. Pepper’ cover was an extension of the work found here, except that while this jacket was filled with images of The Beatles, ‘Sgt. Pepper’ extended the concept to be inclusive of the the whole world ... past, present, and future. All of the songs were incredibly short, most coming in at around two and a half minutes, but they were concise songs, well crafted and to the point. The songs didn’t need to be any longer, yet each song had a way of resonating in my head long after it was finished playing. That being said, it is easy to see were songs like “I’m Only Sleeping,” or “Good Day Sunshine” could be extended in length and instrumentation as would follow on the release of ‘Sgt. Pepper.’And this my friends, is the sixty four thousand dollar question: Did ‘Revolver’ foreshadow ‘Sgt. Pepper,’ or was Sgt. Pepper’ a nod back or perhaps just and extension of ‘Revolver’ ???? Either way, both were stunning releases that challenged the nature of all music which was to follow.Review by Jenell Kesler
