Info
Steal Your Face is a live double album by the Grateful Dead, released in June 1976. The album was recorded October 1720, 1974, at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom, during a farewell run that preceded a then-indefinite hiatus. It was the fourth and final album released by the band on their original Grateful Dead Records label. The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack, a second album from the same run of shows, was released in 2005. Steal Your Face - Volume 1 & Volume 2 2xCD, Album. Digitizing to even the volume of the sides, which are inconsistent, improves the overall listen. The sound quality will never be their best on this, as its a hodgepodge of board recordings done circa 1974, but the song selection is great and the playing is excellent, and Jerry's songs shine of course. Grateful Dead. Some Deadheads and enthusiasts have dismissed this two-disc live set as being foul-sounding and wholly unrepresentative of a typical Grateful Dead show circa 1974. These are undeniably accurate thumbnail assessments. However, somewhat obscured beneath what is not on this collection are a few salvageable performances. The story of why the Dead would contribute to such substandard workmanship has long been grist for the rumor mill. The evidence, however, speaks in the package's indescribably poor song selection and complete lack of cohesion. Steal Your Face. Grateful Dead Format: Audio CD. New from. Used from.
