Winterland 1973: The Complete Recordings is a 9 CD live album by the American rock band the Grateful Dead. It contains three complete concerts, missing only the encore of the first concert. It was recorded on November 9, 10, and 11, 1973, at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, California. The album was released on April 1, 2008. When the Grateful Dead played San Francisco's Winterland Arena for three straight nights in November 1973, they triumphed with home court advantage during one of their most celebrated eras. Recorded November 9, 10, and 11, the trio of epic shows captured on WINTERLAND 1973 are among the finest and most legendary in the band's vast tape vaults, according to Dead archivist David Lemieux. The sound quality is poor by modern studio album standards, but if you listen carefully to the Bird Song from that show, what you hear is a perfect experience of communion between band members and audience and an energy that is absolutely sizzling. Winterland 1973: The Complete Recordings was the second Grateful Dead album to contain an entire run of concerts. The first was Fillmore West 1969: The Complete.
