Pianist Walter Davis, Jr led relatively few recording sessions throughout his career despite his obvious talent. In fact this CD was his first opportunity to head a date for an American label since his lone Blue Note set back in 1959 Davis performs 14 Thelonious Monk songs including two versions of 'Round Midnight unaccompanied.
