The Complete John Peel Sessions is an album released by Scottish alternative band The Jesus and Mary Chain. It comprises the sessions the group recorded for the late Radio 1 DJ John Peel on his late night radio show from 23 October 1984 to 26 November 1989. Peel was an early supporter of the band and gave them well needed publicity which they were unable to gain from the majority of other DJs and music programs of the day who concentrated mostly on the Synthpop craze sweeping the 1980s. The complete set from the session recorded for the John Peel show on BBC Radio 1 on 27 September 1992 by The Jesus Lizard and first broadcast on 29 Review by Andy Kellman. The Complete John Peel Sessions collects the six BBC sessions knocked out by the Reid brothers between 1984 and 1989. As with most BBC-related compilations, the end result is a necessity for diehards. Since this covers rather choice material through Automatic - including a preview of Far Gone and Out from 1992's Honey's Dead - it's not a bad introduction.
