Info

God Save The Clientele is the fourth studio album by British indiepop band The Clientele. Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, it broadens the band's palette through the use of pedal steel and slide guitar. The album is also the first to feature Mel Draisey as the official fourth member of the band. Pat Sansone of Wilco plays on the majority of the songs on God Save The Clientele. It was released on Merge Records on 8 May 2007 in the US, although it leaked onto the internet in March 2007. It was released. As retro-British 60s pop aficionados, the Clientele imagine themselves as writers of lovable, obscure b-sides. Produced by Nashville producer Mark Nevers of Lambchop, God Save the Clientele is the groups cleanest sounding album. The excessive reverb is virtually . yet the group sacrifices none of their trippy haze. Isnt Life Strange gently advances with its haunting George Harrison Al. God Save the Clientele was recorded in Nashville with Lambchop's Mark Nevers at the helm, and with help from Autumn Defense member Pat Sansone, one might expect a more Americanized sound, but with the exception of a pedal steel here and there, the band still magically conjures up autumn walks through rainy London back streets or, even better, languid late summer days. The addition of Mel Draisey on keyboards, violin, and backing vocals hasn't changed much for the group either, as she's only on about half the tracks and her contributions are pleasingly subtle. God Save the Clientele was produced by Mark Nevers, of Merge label-mates Lambchop. Lambchop makes super-pretty elevator music, and The Clientele have taken that mellow cue to heart: every guitar strum and pluck, keyboard stroke, or violins whine is as clear as a translucent bell. Its the kind of record that stereo salesmen play when theyre trying to convince you to spend 1600 bucks on a speaker the size of a lunchbox. Theres nothing to object to and much to admire on God Save The Clientele, but theres also little to celebrate
