Info
Moving Pictures is the eighth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released on February 12, 1981, through Anthem Records. After touring to support their previous album, Permanent Waves 1980, the band started to write and record new material in August 1980 with co-producer Terry Brown. They continued to write songs with a more radio-friendly format, featuring tighter song structures and songs of shorter length compared to their early albums. Moving Pictures became the bands biggest selling album in the U. rising to 3 on the Billboard charts. It remains Rushs most popular and commercially successful studio recording. Rushs complex songwriting and musical virtuosity reached new heights on this album. Recorded and mixed from October to November 1980 at Le Studio, Moving Pictures followed a more radio-friendly format and includes several signature tracks, including Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Red Barchetta, and the bands highly praised instrumental, YYZ, which is the IATA airport identification code of Toronto Pearson Inter. Moving Pictures Rush album. 1981 studio album by Rush. With the material fully prepared, Rush recorded Moving Pictures in October and November 1980 at Le Studio in Morin-Heights, Quebec. By the time they started the studio was fitted out with a digital 48-track machine, both of which were unfamiliar to the band at first and spent some time familiarising themselves with using the equipment. Moving Pictures is. But Moving Pictures changed everything. Before Moving Pictures there were side-long, seven-movement songs based on Ayn Rand books. The tracks on Moving Pictures , while not always more navigable without some type of map of fantasy and philosophy literature, were tighter, more focused and easier to follow from Point A to Point G or whatever. Everyone talks about how 2112 is the band's masterpiece, but Moving Pictures is the better album. Permanent Waves was still rooted in the band's proggy past, but its two best songs - The Spirit of Radio and Freewill - are the ones almost everybody knows
