Moving Pictures is the eighth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released on February 12, 1981, through Anthem Records. After touring to support their previous album, Permanent Waves 1980, the band started to write and record new material in August 1980 with co-producer Terry Brown. They continued to write songs with a more radio-friendly format, featuring tighter song structures and songs of shorter length compared to their early albums. The story behind the making of two legendary albums from Rush. 2112 was the album that saw Rush break through to major chart success, going to No. 1 in Pictures became the bands biggest selling album in the U. rising to 3 on the Billboard charts. It remains Rushs most popular and commercially successful studio recording. Rushs complex songwriting and musical virtuosity reached new heights on this album.
