Love in Vain originally Love in Vain Blues is a blues song written by American musician Robert Johnson. He sings of unrequited love, using a departing train as a metaphor for his loss. Johnson's performance vocal accompanied by his finger-style acoustic guitar playing has been described as devastatingly bleak. He recorded the song in 1937 during his last recording session and in 1939 it was issued as the last of his original 78 rpm records. Nigel Mooney has long been regarded as Ireland's leading blues singerguitarist. An RTE album of the week with extensive pre-release airplay on Radio 1, 'The Bohemian Mooney' is Mooney's much-anticipated second album and sees him in both small group and big debut album All My Love's In Vain was Ireland's top selling jazz album in 2005. In 2013 he released The Bohemian Mooney, featuring Georgie Fame and many leading Irish jazz musicians. It was named RTÉ Radio 1's album of the week in April 2013 and Mooney appeared on RTÉ's The Late Late Show the following month.
