Domination is the fourth full-length studio album by death metal band Morbid Angel, released in 1995. This was Morbid Angel's last album under the label Giant Records before the label dropped the band. The band then re-signed with their former label, Earache Records. This is also the first Morbid Angel album to feature Hate Eternal frontman Erik Rutan on guitars and keyboards, who later left the band following this album, though he would return to the band for Gateways To Annihilation. Guitarist Erik Rutan joins the fold on Morbid Angel's Domination and contributes several of his own compositions. The group's sound is better than ever and perhaps a bit more groove-oriented, but this is mostly standard Morbid Angel, with the typical problems: the bass drums are played too fast to be recorded properly and end up sounding like a fast clicking underneath the songs. David Vincent left the band soon after the release of Domination and was replaced by Steve Tucker. Morbid Angel - Domination review: Mixes thick, sludgy, and doomy grooves with Death metal technicality to produce an insanely good album. A must-hear. A great album by one of the fathers of Death Metal contains one fo my favorite Morbid Angel songs, Dominate. As usual with Morbid Angel, the lyrical content is not to my liking though.
