"I'm The Slime" b/w "Montana" was first issued in 1973 (The Mothers - I'm The Slime / Montana), supported by a promo issue. Both from the DiscReet album "Over-nite Sensation" (DiscReet MS 2149).

Additional note:
‘I'm The Slime’ is a completely different mix compared to the album version; the vocals and guitar are centered and there's more trombone, just before "That's right, folks...", and it has a completely different guitar solo at the end. ‘Montana’ is the album mix, but in that 1973 issue shortened from 6:37 to 4:39 by cutting out the solo and fading the ending slightly earlier; so this single edit is longer.

I'm the Slime is a 1973 single by Frank Zappa and The Mothers from the album Over-Nite Sensation. Different live versions can be found on Zappa in New York and You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore, Vol. 1, the latter version having been performed and recorded on the same night as the majority of tracks appearing on 1974's Roxy and Elsewhere. I'm the Slime and its b-side version of Montana were put on Zappa's best of Strictly Commercial. It was performed in concert from 1973 to 1977 and 1984. Get the Sheet Music License This Song . Zappa released this as the B-side to I'm the Slime. An audience member once requested Whipping Post, a song by the Allman Brothers Band. Zappa apologized for not knowing the song and asked the audience member to sing it for him. The audience member sang a bar of the song in a high voice and Zappa thanked him, getting laughs from the audience. Then Zappa sang Montana, ad-libbing the lyrics Whipping floss and Whipping post several times in place of the usual lyrics. This can be heard on the album You Can't Do That On Stage Any.
