Truckin' Up to Buffalo is a double CD soundtrack to the DVD video of the same name by the Grateful Dead. It was recorded at Rich Stadium in Orchard Park on July 4, 1989. There are no differences in the track listings of the CD and DVD versions. Two tracks had already been released: All Along the Watchtower was included in the compilation of Dylan songs, Postcards of the Hanging, and Man Smart Woman Smarter was released on Weir Here The Best of Bob Weir. The album title is taken from a line in. Truckin' Up To Buffalo otherwise known as Truckin is an album made by the Grateful Dead. The album was sung outside Rich Stadium Orchard Park, New York,on July 4,1989. As day breaks on the campground outside Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, on July 4, 1989, great grey and white clouds billow and blow across blue skies. Rain is in the forecast, and you can see the storm gathering ominously like some Spielberg special effect miles away. Spread over two CDs, 2005's Truckin' Up to Buffalo contains the Grateful Dead's entire 1989 Independence Day performance. This date - from Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, NY - was the second of their summer East Coast tour. Many if not all of those gigs were documented by a six-camera crew under the direction of Len Dell'amico. The thoroughly favorable results can been seen and heard on the similarly titled companion DVD volume. Truckin up to Buffalo is a 1989 concert and although, up to my expectatons instrumentally, the vocals show either age or not the best of days. Jerry Garica tends to sound raspy and tired. An example is one of my favorite Garcia vocals, Deal. In addition, Cold Rain and Snow, Walkin' Blues, Man Smart Woman Smarter, and All Along the Watchtower will go on my Ipod and are not on any of my other CD's.
