About Flying Teapot. Gongs third studio album was the first in its Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy. Masterminded by frontman Daevid Allen, the trilogy features plenty of psychedelia, space prog and jazzy instrumentation. Lyrically speaking, it is an absurdist and tongue-in-cheek look at the growth of consciousness through experience and introspection. Unsurprisingly particularly for 1973, Allen and other members of Gong were submerged in hippie culture and experimenting with drugs when this first instalment came together. Flying Teapot is the third studio album by the psychedelic rock band Gong, originally released by Virgin Records in May 1973. Subtitled Radio Gnome Invisible Part 1, it is the first of the Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy of albums, and was followed by Angel's Egg 1973 and You 1974. The trilogy forms a central part of the Gong mythology. The Flying Teapot idea was influenced by Russell's teapot. Flying Teapot is ranked 3,510th in the overall chart, 631st in the 1970s, and 70th in the year 1973. This album is rated in the top 3 of all albums on . The Flying Teapot 1973. Album by Gong.
