Wynton Marsalis is the debut album of jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. It was released in 1982 by Columbia. It features seven tracks, three composed by Marsalis. Wynton Marsalis' three-part Soul Gestures in Southern Blue of which this CD is the final section is a disappointment. None of the themes are particularly memorable and, although the individual solos are fine, not much really happens overall it is a rather weird tribute to the blues.
