The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery is an album by American jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery. Most of its tracks exemplify two of Montgomery's distinguishing techniques: thumb picking and the use of octaves. In 2017, the album was selected for the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as culturally, historically, or artistically significant. The incredible Wes Montgomery of 1960 was more discernible and distinctive than the guitarist who would emerge a few years later as a pop stylist and precursor to George Benson in the '70s. On this landmark recording, Montgomery veered away from his home Indianapolis-based organ combo with Melvin Rhyne, the California-based Montgomery Brothers band, and other studio sidemen he had been placed with briefly. O álbum de 1960 chamou atenção para o talento extraordinário de Wes. É um documento definitivo da técnica, sucessão de idéias e da concepção original Montgomery - D-Natural Blues. The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery is the fourth album by American jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery. Most of its tracks are considered to be the best examples of Wes Montgomery's two distinguishing techniques - thumb picking and the use of octaves. John Leslie Wes Montgomery was one of the most influential jazz guitarists of the twentieth century. Starting to play guitar in 1943, Wes played a background role with such artists such as Lionel Hampton for years until the late fifties when he started to record. The Incredible jazz guitar of Wes Montgomery, recorded in 1960, was Wess first solo recording on the Riverside label and is regarded as one of his best. I can definitely say that it stands up to that claim. The Wes Montgomery Quartet includes: Wes Montgomery Guitar Tommy Flanagan Piano Albert Tootie Heath Drums Percy Heath

Having the US and UK first pressings makes it impossible not to compare the two.
To be brief the difference is not huge by any means, but there seems to be a better presence to the US.
Instruments are more in the room, tighter, and resolve more in the soundstage.
Although thats mostly a figure of speech as these recordings are extremely quiet and not in the room to begin with.
These small differences are also most likely just derived from a one generation younger master tape used for the US cut and you really have to listen closely to notice it, if there even is one as I doubt my own testing at times. Or its perhaps from a slightly lower EQ for the UK as performances seem slightly more muffled, but I dont think so as bass seems in favor of the US still.
But in general this is whats to be expected from all Riverside US vs UK and EU pressings, and just vinyl pressings in general.
