I've always thought of the 'Euphoric Breakdown' series as the more commercially-oriented sister brand to the legendary Euphoria series, both released (initially, at least) on Telstar, previously home to the Deep Heat series in the late 80s. While I have owned and listened to Altern8's 'Old Skool Euphoria' on several occasions, this Breakdown equivalent is the one I keep coming back to after all these years. While on paper I probably like more of the tracks on the Euphoria mix, there's something so infectiously joyous and innocent about Euphoric Old Skool Breakdown that I can't help loving it more.I'd be the first to admit that half the tracks on this double CD wouldn't be out of place at a School Disco.com event, but for every Dr Alban, 2 Unlimited or Yazz there's 808 State, Sonz of a Loop Da Loop Era and Gat Decor, catering for both the pop-conscious dance lover and the rave veterans. It's clearly a digital mix, but there's clearly some thought put into it, bar the last few tracks in disc two where it weirdly shifts into standard radio edits and fades. But for the most part, this is a happy mix of happy songs reflecting a happier time, and what's wrong with that? Get yourself a copy and have some fun :)

The vocals on the power in a few places sound like the smurf's or chipmonks are singing!!Perhaps the copy I purchased is a dodgy copy?

No, it's not just you, the pitched up tracks seem to be the same across the board (I've owned this release twice over the years!). I agree though, overall the mixing is pretty good despite being a digital mix, although the pitching up and down jars horribly. My least favourite is 2 Unlimited's 'No Limit', which sounds like it's being played at 33rpm instead of 45!
