To celebrate Pendragons 10th birthday back in 2001, Millennium Records asked Me to select and mix the tracks for a 2 disc CD. This was a dream come true, I could select any track I wanted and the record company sorted out the licensing, banging. This is the first disc, the whole mix was recorded at my house in London, using only vinyl. Pendragon were at the forefront of the Tribal House, Tribal Trance scene, way before the various genres of Trance 've merged both CDs into one mix, mega rare album. François Cabal3y ago. Best ever. Mayhem didn't release another studio recording until the 1997 EP Wolf's Lair Abyss, and the vocalist on De Mysteriis, Hungarian singer Attila Csihar, only rejoined the band in 2004, prior to its fourth studio full-length, 2006's Ordo ad Chao. Current Skitliv vocalist Maniac filled the vocal slot from 1994 to 2004. Csihar's return led to the natural question of revisiting De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, an album that has proven its spot in black-metal history based on its musical merits, not just because of the grisly events surrounding it. Renowned London-based underground/hippy trance promoters Pendragon marked their tenth anniversary with this 2CD album, both discs being mixed by the chief of the Pendragon clan, Mark Sinclair. The tracklist includes a range of trance tunes including some of the hardish uplifting variety for which Pendragon is best known, my favourites here being First Strike, Maximum Overdrive, My Own Kind Of Style and Sweet Asylum. In a few places however the set does descend into the annoying whinings of generic hard-dance (e.g. Successful Enter and The Human Form) and also included is an unimaginative (and sacrilegious!) hard-house rip-off of Tim Taylor's 'ardcore classic The Horn Track. Despite that, the music is pretty good overall and smoothly mixed by Mark, maintaining a reasonably lively 150bpm throughout the album.

I barticularly like the artwork because the typical Pendragon fluoro Celtic knot designs are supplemented by photographs from their ten-year history - including a crowd-shot from the 1997 Brighton Dance Parade with me in the foreground. :)
