27 tracks of warped and delirious garage pop n' beat, taking tips from the Beatles/ Stones/ Yardbirds/Kinks axis and twisting it a bit further along the chain.
Some of these need to be heard to be believed ... highlights include Improved Sound Ltd (great name for a band) and their two strange offerings 'Leave This Lesbian World' (did they even know what they were singing?) and the garage-skronk hybrid 'Hit 'Em In The Face'.
Austria's Novak's Kapelle turn up with the drug classic 'Hypodermic Needle' (comped elsewhere in better quality, for instance on the new Acid Nightmares collection on Numero).
Wot else? Well you get two rare pre-Can offerings from '68 by Inner Space, a weird one about an evil bumble bee by Casey Jones & The Governers, a very topical (for the time) number about heart transplants by The Dragons and an off-the-wall prisoner-on-death-row dirge called 'Convicted' by Ric & The Skyliners.
I can't say there's no mediocre tracks on it .... some are merely quaint beat and pop in the Beatles tradition and some of the fi is none too hi on this obviously bootlegged collection but if you like your '60s garage punk and you see it for under a tenner I would snap it up.
Play it for friends and watch their jaws hit the floor when they hear 'Leave This Lesbian World'.
