I certain amount of personality, which is perhaps a bit quirky, said visual artist David Shrigley recently, discussing his personal aesthetic. I like that word very much, 'quirky. Embracing that term is a rather bold move, since quirky, like edgy and hip, has by now passed from meaningful adjective in. David John Shrigley OBE born 17 September 1968 is a British visual artist. He lived and worked in Glasgow, Scotland for 27 years before moving to Brighton, England in 2015. Shrigley was born 17 September 1968 in Macclesfield, Cheshire. He moved with his parents and sister to Oadby, Leicestershire when he was two years old. He took the Art and Design Foundation course at Leicester Polytechnic in 1987, and then studied environmental art at Glasgow School of Art from 1988 to 1991. A Song by John Shankie. This small deficiency has now been remedied, and on the resulting 39-track double album the musicians have constructed songs of all varieties around Shrigley's spare lyrics. Each song mostly indie-rock seems to be only connected by the words they sing. Its a smorgasbord of different sounds, instruments, and styles, yet it all comes together when it comes to Shrigleys dark humor.
