A German electronic producer Torsten Profrock. pretty much a perfect Post-Punk compilation, the sleeve notes apologise for the poor sound quality but i think they did a great job considering they mastered from budget 45's great distortion free pressing, the whole thing has a nice tone i really like, you can tell its from the era. favorite tracks: Meltdown by 012 & violence grows by the Fatal Microbes. Compiled by JD Twitch, it has been a real labour of love involving tracing long-lost artists to far-flung corners of the globe, persuading them that the modern world needs to hear the music they made several decades ago, tracking down lost masters and lovingly restoring 7s in the case of those where the masters were lost. If Punk was the nuclear detonation, the fallout that came after was where a lot of the most interesting music of that era was m. Cult Classics From The Post-Punk Era 1978-82 Over the last decade, there have been numerous attempts to illuminate the murky recesses of post-punk, often from leading figures in electronic music DJ Hell's New Deutsch, the Soul Jazz New York Noise series, Trevor Jackson's Metal Dance compilations. In an era when I've heard Joy O drop Crash Course In Science's Jump Over Barrels at a sun-soaked festival, it's not difficult to imagine braver DJs deploying Dorothy's Softness a scrappy stab at sophisticated Manhattan disco or Thomas Leer's Private Plane pulsing synth-pop that's all frayed wires in a club set. Release Date 2015-10-30. Label Optimo Music. Compiled by JD Twitch of the Scottish duo Optimo, pulls together recordings by a bunch of desperately alienated British post-punk bands and one-offs into a remarkable, eye-opening and ingeniously sequenced album. It even ventures a bit outside of its own time range: a 1984 album track by the 012 is gerrymandered in on the grounds that it was recorded in 1981. All of those turn out to be fine decisions on Twitch's part, because manages to pull together recordings by a bunch of desperately alienated artists into a remarkable, eye-opening and ingeniously sequenced album. A selection of under-the-radar post-punk 7 s unearthed by JD Twitch, its a slice of the raw late 70searly 80s sound that creeps its way into even the most crowd-pleasing sets of Glasgows finest tag-team, Optimo, of which Twitch forms half. For fans of the beloved DJ duo, the release goes further than finally solving a few track ID queries, it comprehensively assembles them the double-vinyl version also comes with detailed notes of each track written by Twitch. Then theres also the cease-and-desist letter sent by Sony. DIY Cult Classics from the Post-Punk Era 1978-82, 2015. Nancy Sesay & The Melodaires. Break the Ice at Parties, 01:56. Sexy Terrorist, 02:24. C'est Fab, 04:24. Electric Heat, 03:48. Fed Up Skank, 04:56
