That probably explains the existence of the 1955 musical Seventh Heaven. The property itself had begun life as a straight play in 1922, with a story set in Paris during World War I about two lower-class lovers. The score by Victor Young and Stella Unger is average at best. The show is really only noteworthy for being the big debut for a dancer called Chita Rivera. Chita Rivera played one of the three streetwalkers in the show the others were played by Gerrianne Raphael and Patricia Hammerlee. The main romantic couple was played by Gloria De Haven and Ricardo Montalban, with fine support from Kurt Kasznar. In any case solely as a cast album, esp. for those interested in V Young's career, I definitely recommend the purchase of this CD, despite caveats mentioned herein.
