Just received this about this record from Jimmy Brown (Orchestra JB)

Hello Nathan
Yes, i was involved in a version of Sympathy For The Devil in 92/93 maybe even 91, i cant exactly remember when, i can't even remember the artist credit we gave it. Sorry! What I can tell you is that the singer on Sympathy is Lydia Steinman who sang vocals on Come Alive (Orchestra JB).
I co-produced it with Rick Kenton, who was one of Roxy Music's bass players in the early days. He played bass on Virginia Plain, their first hit. Incidently he also played bass on Come Alive.
If its the same version, mine starts off with percussion, then lead vocal, then more drums, then this squeak that punctuates every bar, then guitar chords...
hope this helps

I've got this mystery record too, I remember I spun it once years back and filed it away, I didn't enjoy it that much. Now just listened to it again this evening, I'm surprised I didn't recognize right away, the main sample/loop is Shep Pettibone's remix of "Sugar Daddy" by Thompson Twins, which in itself samples "I've Got My Mind Made Up" by Instant Funk. The mind boggles!

1st heard this track on the beach in front of Cafe Del Mar at an Ibiza full-moon party back in the day spun by the legendary DJ Alfredo. - This is by far the best & funkiest version of the 'Sympathy For The Devil' tune, but who was it by???(: - Due to copyrights the vocalist remains a mystery ... I'm positive i heard the exact same version of the tune performed at a Happy Mondays concert at Wembley with Rowetta (Black Grape) on vocals ...
