Ultravox is the eponymous debut studio album by British new wave band Ultravox. It was recorded at Island Studios in Hammersmith, London in the autumn of 1976 and produced by Ultravox and Steve Lillywhite with studio assistance from Brian Eno. It was released on 25 February 1977 by Island. The songs Sat'day Night in the City of the Dead and Dangerous Rhythm, alongside other songs from the album, were written while the band were named Tiger Lily. As with many in the Essential series focusing on '80s bands, the collection loses steam by including later period singles or highlight tracks from weaker albums. All Fall Down and All in One Day, from 1986's U-Vox album, are embarrassing shifts in direction from Ultravox's original sound, experimenting with Celtic touches and overblown acoustic bombast. Certainly a far cry from the group's earlier, dark electro musings and easily the most inessential inclusions on Essential. Track Listing. Lament is the seventh studio album by British new wave band Ultravox, released on 6 April 1984 by Chrysalis Records. It was the last album featuring original drummer Warren Cann until the band's reunion album Brilliant in 2012. The album peaked at number nine on the UK Albums Chart and was certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry BPI on 8 June 1984 for shipments of 100,000 copies.
