They were born out of the ashes of another Luton band called the Resiztors, who had formed in 1978. The album had taken a year to gestate, due to delays caused by a time-consuming US tour and a frustrating search for a new permanent bass player. When original bassist Smith left, Lorraine Lol Turvey from the Statics stood in for some UK dates and an early 1981 European tour. 23 January 1980: The Black Cat 7 - The Black 45 e. 05 February 1980: The Black Cat 7-The Black 45 EP Plastic. 07 February 1980: Middle of the Road Man EP - The Black 45 EP Plastic

Can somebody tell me what the difference is between the 2 versions of this single listed. I can't see any actual difference?

Thanks. Yes the For My Country and Unexpected Guest reissues are very obvious, reissued by the band on their own label. I have a “glossy sleeve” Black 45 and I was worried it might be a reissue and there were earlier versions . Will try to find a Matt one now. I think the story here is that the band repressed these singles after fresh went bust, but I heard tales that fresh took over distribution from Plastic ( the bands own label) in 81 or so and I wondered if there were differences at that point

Its written in the notes, the reissue / repress came in a matt paper sleeve. The original was issued in a flimsier glossy sleeve. It was the same for 'For My Country' as well where the original was issued in a glossy sleeve, reissue in matt sleeve (though its more easy to spot difference as it came out on a different label!). The reissue's didn't appear until 1983 or 1984.
