Thug Life: Volume 1 is the only studio album by American hip hop group Thug Life, started by rapper Tupac Shakur, it was released on September 26, 1994 by Interscope Records. The group featured Big Syke, Macadoshis, Mopreme, The Rated R and Tupac Shakur. Due to heavy criticism on gangsta rap at the time, the original version of the album was scrapped and re-recorded with many of the original songs being cut. Thug Life was a hip hop group founded by multi-platinum selling hip hop artist Tupac Shakur aka 2Pac in late 1993. It featured Big Syke, Macadoshis, Mopreme, and The Rated R alongside Shakur. An interesting sidenote is that the Notorious . was originally supposed to be a part of the group but was removed by record executives. The group released their first and only album, Volume 1, on Interscope in September 1994. The Thug Life crew is pretty good, with Mopreme being my favorite if you don't count Pac. Songs like Bury Me a G and Str8 Ballin' remind me why Tupac is my favorite lyricist and MC.
