For those VU fans disenchanted with grade-z recording-quality boots - this is one that defies the trend. Amazing audio, straight off the mixing desk. Vocals a little high maybe ... but this is truly a 9/10 bootleg.
The other thing that makes this special is that it's a gig from the golden year of 1967. I may be wrong but I don't think there's any more live VU material, official or unofficial, from that year. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
John Cale is still with the VU, his bass playing is unique with plenty of his trademark inverted runs.... all seems sweetness and light with the band.
You get the first live outing for Sister Ray and a previously unknown song; I'm Not A Young Man Anymore.
How I wish there was more live material from this era. The tape may have come from Cale's stash and he apparently has more that he 'can't be bothered to go through'.
Come on John, let's have 'em.
