Info

We Are the Same is the eleventh full-length studio album by Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip, released April 7, 2009 on Universal Music Canada, and by Zoë Records in the United States. The album was recorded at The Bathouse Recording Studio in Bath, Ontario with producer Bob Rock. The opening track, Morning Moon, was released on the band's website in advance of the album's release. The first single, Love Is a First, was released February 27, 2009 and peaked at 22 on the Canadian Hot 100. Initial reaction to We Are the Same among longtime fans seemed to range, according to chit-chat on various blogs, from halting acceptance to outraged disdain. There is no denying that the latest from this now 26-year-old Canadian band bears little resemblance to the rawer, rootsier sound of the Hip's earliest works. Country Day Album Version. We Are the Same, their first album since 2007, was produced by Bob Rock Metallica, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and features some of the most memorable songs the band has ever written. Song Title. I love the Tragically Hip and this album is no exception. Always thought provoking and melodic, you can't ask for better than that. Read more. Album 2009 12 Songs. More By The Tragically Hip. Not available in Russian Federation. The Tragically Hip has been around for 20 years now. Unfortunately, the name of these Canadian rockers only works within the context of our northern. Its clear from the start of We Are The Same that this band is used to writing straight forward rock songs, which serve easy listening tastes as well as those who appreciate straight forward song writing. The album begins with a Neil Young-like riff in Morning Moon that flows into a enduring and endearing strum. They delve into different genres during the nearly hour long record. Kingston quintet The Tragically Hip have been a mainstay on the Canadian music scene for some 20 plus years. Their collective mantle is bedecked with 14 Junos, they have a home in their native Music Hall of Fame and eight of their ten albums went straight to number one. This, their eleventh, may as well be their first for the majority of us Brits, as unfamiliar as we are with their lyrically potent country rock. We Are The Same is a smooth mix of political and personal, sincere and satirical. A good means of introduction to a largely untapped nation of potential fans. I love this album on vinyl. Always a little annoyed with the double LP with three songs per side but regardless this album sounds great on record. This album has a sophisticated polish of overproduction that comes to life on vinyl and sounds better. Lots of strings and background vocals that really pop on record. Amazing bass, as on all Hip vinyl records. Not their most popular album but holds a real soft spot in my heart. As I've said before, I'm a huge fan of later period Tragically Hip, including this album. Morning Moon stands up there with the greatest Hip tracks ever. Highly recommended on vinyl. One of my favourites. Misunderstood album.
