30 years after hiking with The Roots, Black Thought finally released their first solo EP. Something done with excellence, incredible. of Thought, Vol. 1 is the debut extended play by American emcee Black Thought. It was released on June 1, 2018, by independent distributor Human Re Sources. Primarily produced by 9th Wonder, with one contribution from Khrysis of The Soul Council, it marks Black Thought's first solo release outside of his work with The Roots. The EP features guest appearances by Rapsody, Styles P and KIRBY. Black Thought is working with producer Sean C on this collaborative project, and likens this albums message to that of the Bible story of Cain and Abel. Cain and Abel tells the story of Cain, the firstborn son of Adam and Eve, who murders his brother Abel because the items that Abel brought to the Lord were more valuable and worthwhile than Cains own offerings. The moral of the story revolves around the whole point of life and the dangers of jealousy and resentment.
