Info
The Stooges is the eponymous debut studio album by American rock band the Stooges, released on August 5, 1969 by Elektra Records. Considered a landmark proto-punk release, the album peaked at number 106 on the US Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. The songs I Wanna Be Your Dog and 1969 were released as singles from the album 1969 was featured on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Songs at number 35. Kill City is a studio album by Iggy Pop and James Williamson, both ex-members of the Stooges. It was recorded as a demo in 1975 but released in altered form in November 1977 by record label Bomp. Johanna and I Got Nothin' were both performed live during 197374 by the Williamson-era Stooges. Kill City was originally recorded in 1975 after the disintegration of the Stooges. It was to be used as a demo to give to record labels in hopes of getting Pop a new contract. His vocals were recorded on. The album was released on April 30 on Fat Possum. Iggy and the Stooges played the final date of their 25-city 2013 world tour with a performance at the C2SV Festival in San Jose on September 28, 2013. On March 15, 2014, Scott Asheton died of a heart attack, aged 64. Saxophonist Steve Mackay died in October 2015 at the age of 66. The best Rolling Stones album the Stones never made. The standard def version seems to have vanished from YouTube. The Stooges also known as Iggy and the Stooges are an American rock group that was formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States in 1967. Featuring a bombastic proto-punk sound, they released three studio albums before breaking up in 1974. Despite picking up little to no chart or radio success, the band has proved to be one of the most influential rock groups of the past several decades, inspiring many artists such as the Ramones. The band reunited in 2003, released another record in 2007, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. Kill City - Iggy Pop. The former was a late-'70s solo-era collaboration of Iggy Pop with his former compatriot in the Stooges, James Williamson, while the latter included outtakes and rarities recorded several years earlier as the Stooges which Williamson had just joined prepared to record Raw Power. 2017 Remastered Studio. As I have written about previously, the first LP released by Bomp Records was Kill City, representing music that Iggy Pop and James Williamson put together right after the Stooges broke up. As Greg Shaw tells the story in the liner notes for the double-CD compilation album, Destination: Bomp in the entry for the Stooges song I Got a Right : In 1976-77, Bomp was about the only established label in America that was actively pushing the new music. For a brief time, I could have had virtually any band that I wanted. It couldnt last of course, but while it did, it was. And what became Kill City recorded in 1975, released in 1977 never resembled the work of a man seceding responsibility to his new medication. In fact, this is his most underrated album true, partly because its never been on CD before. On a similar tack, I Got Nothin one of two Stooges leftovers resembled the Stones aping Dylans Knocking on Heavens Door. Kill Citys original side two is patchier, though the instrumental Master Charge has a strange, sad beauty, like Iggys lost and wandering New Orleans streets at 3am. The stunning, bruised ballad No Sense of Crime, however, beats the Stones at their own dissolute game
