Info
Greatest Hits 197478 is a compilation album by the Steve Miller Band released in November 1978. The album features the title track from 1973's The Joker plus 13 tracks taken from Fly Like an Eagle 1976 and Book of Dreams 1977. As a sign of the album-oriented rock times, all but one track came from their last two albums even though they had eleven studio albums at the time. On this 1978 albumCD release, the shorter 7-inch single versions of Jet Airliner, Swingtown, The Joker, and Fly Like. The Steve Miller Band Greatest Hits 1974 - 78 Released: 1978 Label: Capital Produced By: Steve Miller Track List 1. Swingtown 00:00 Written by Hits 1974-1978 collects the majority of Steve Miller's biggest hits - The Joker, Take the Money and Run, Rock 'n Me, Fly Like an Eagle, Jet Airliner, Jungle Love, Swingtown - plus seven album tracks that received a fair amount of airplay on album rock radio. The collection only covers a total of three albums The Joker, Fly Like an Eagle, Book of Dreams, with the latter two providing the bulk of the material. Because of this, Living in the USA, one of Miller's biggest hits of the late '60s and early '70s, isn't included, but it's hardly missed, since all of his other. Greatest Hits 1974-78 chronicles the best singles from Miller's most successful years, after he veered from Haight-Ashbury bluesy trippiness to more accessible blues-based pop-rock. There are the slippery grooves of The Joker and Fly Like an Eagle, and there's the air-guitar-beckoning riff rock of Take the Money and Run, Jungle Love, Rock n'Me, and Jet Airliner. If the seller responds, I will update this review. The A-side of this album played perfectly, but when I flipped it to the B-side, there appears to be some sort of manufacturing defect, because the record skips every few seconds. It's not a scratch I can see-I wonder if the track shifts along a line because of a flaw. It has sold 13 million copies in the United States and is ranked 37th on the Recording Industry Association of America list of best selling albums. It also achieved Diamond certification in Canada 1,000,000 units in 2003. Two singles that reached No. 1 are The Joker which topped the charts on January 12, 1974 and Rock'n Me on November 6, 1976. As a sign of the album-oriented rock times, all but one track came from their last two albums even though they had read more.
