Although it was recorded in 1969, this album was not released at the time although a few were circulated in the US in 1971 before it was withdrawn due to contractual reasons. By the late 1960s the band were firmly under the creative direction of Ray Fenwick, who played lead guitar, sang lead vocals, and wrote all of the songs. The Second Album is the second album by the British band the Spencer Davis Group, released in 1966. Many of the songs were a slightly experimental blend of beat, folk, jazz and blues, but included Jackie Edwards' Keep on Running, which gave the group their first U. number 1 single, and the R&B standard Georgia on My Mind. The album spent eighteen weeks on the U. album chart, peaking at number 3. While the album was not released in the US, the single Keep on Running was released in February.
