Info
I Wanna Testify is the first hit single by the Detroit soul singing group The Parliaments. The single was released at the beginning of the summer of 1967 by Revilot Records. The single went to 3 on Billboard R&B chart and 20 on the Pop chart. It would be the only major hit for the group for the entire decade. The only member of the Parliaments to actually appear on the recording was group leader George Clinton, as the group was based in New Jersey at the time and only Clinton was able to travel. Ground breaking record for the group. they were of course Do-wopin but this was their first top 40 record. Only Clinton appears on I Wanna Testify backed by the Holidays. The others couldn't afford the trek to Detroit from Plainfield, NJ that week. Clinton went every Friday to produce other acts and work on Parliament stuff. All Your Goodies Are Gone's clever lyrics hook you as much as the slinky vocals, and The Goose That Layed the Golden Egg charm lies in its sloop beat and acid inspired lyrics. They redid both numbers, strobe-light style, on Up for the Down Stroke. The Parliaments I Wanna Testify. I Wanna Testify 02. Time 03. Good Ole Music 04. I Can Feel the Ice Melting 05. What a fantastic song, and rightfully kicked off the ParliamentFunkadelic empire. That this song is not regularly featured on oldies radio is an absolute mystery to me, but maybe that makes it even better each time you listen to it. The Parliaments, which later evolved into Funkadelic and Parliament, consisted of George Clinton, Fuzzy Haskins, Ray Davis, Grady Thomas and Calvin Simon. This is one of the few compilations of their work. The Parliaments - I Wanna Testify - 45 RPM 3:25. I Can Feel the Ice Melting The 2:31. Listen Zur Liste hinzufügen. Funk Soul von five5tone.
