Info
Woman is the sixth studio album by the American rock band the Doors, released on April 19, 1971, on Elektra Records. It is the last to feature lead singer Jim Morrison during his lifetime due to his death three months after the album's release, though he would posthumously appear on the 1978 album An American Prayer. Even more so than its predecessors, the album is heavily influenced by blues. It was recorded without record producer Paul A. Rothchild after he fell out with the group over the. Following the use of brass and string arrangements recommended by producer Paul A. Rothchild on their previous album, The Soft Parade, the band returned to their original blues-rock style and was largely seen as a return to form for the band. The Doors entered Elektra Sound Recorders in Los Angeles in November 1969 to record the album which is divided into two separately titled sides. Listen to 'L. I quit because Id grown tired of dragging the Doors from one album to another, especially an unwilling Jim, and he had virtually dried up, shrugged Rothchild. Youthful poet or no, Morrison remained a rock star in 1971, and the Doors were still one of the bigger bands in the industry - a status reflected by L. Woman 's Top 10 chart placement. Before the record's run was finished, the group would add a pair of Top 20 singles Love Her Madly and Riders on the Storm to their tally. Listen to 'Love Her Madly'. As a result, we are are now selling them. The last official Doors studio album, L. Woman was still high on the charts when, like the actor out on loan of its closing track, Riders on the Storm, Jim Morrison died in a Paris bathtub in the summer of 1971. Via such tracks as The Changeling, Crawling King Snake, and the frothy, rollicking title track, the collection leaned heavily toward the blues-in particular, Morrison's boastful Lizard King brand of it.
