The sound quality, which is only adequate in the Schubert, jumps up several notches in this powerful, intensely expressed Brahms String Quintet 2 with Yo-Yo Ma and friends. Bath Mozartfest now manage a second annual festival, each February, celebrating the work of J S Bach and his contemporaries, called Bath Bachfest. This trust was created by Mrs Mary Purnell in memory of her son Mark, who died young and pre-deceased her. Mark had two great loves: the music of W A Mozart and the glorious Georgian City of Bath. To celebrate both, and leave a lasting legacy in his name, Mrs Purnell created her trust, but sadly did not live to enjoy the first festival.
