Chaos and Disorder is distinguished by its confusion even the title admits that the albums fractured parts never resolve into a thematic whole. At its best, the record sounds like a collection of polished demos. More often, though, it seems like the work of a Prince impersonator - someone who has closely studied the stars moves and mannerisms but has nothing new or substantial of his own to say. Its a drag act that becomes a drag real quickly. It doesnt matter what the Artist Formerly Known as Prince calls himself. Chaos and Disorder is the sound of the man repeating himself badly. Leave it to the artist formerly known as Prince to end his 18-year relationship with Warner Bros. Records by handing over a somewhat ragtag collection of tracks initially intended 4 private use only. And who else would assure that said album was actually a pretty good checklist of many of the things this frequent genius does best Even when lyrics appear deliberately puerile Dinner With Delores, Prince is often able to salvage the song with a cranked-up guitar he plays a lot on these 11 cuts or a catchy chorus. I Like It There is a metal-pop lust-anthem that's both slight and undeniable, the way Raspberry Beret was. Even though the whole world referred to him as either The Artist or The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, that weird symbol Prince used was actually known as Love Symbol 2. It was copyrighted in 1997, but when Prince's contract with Warner Bros. expired at midnight on December 31, 1999, he announced that he was reclaiming his given name. In 2017, Pantone gave him his own color. He scrapped an album released after having a spiritual epiphany. In 1987, Prince was due to release The Black Album.
