Eye in the Sky is the sixth studio album by English rock band The Alan Parsons Project, released in June 1982 by Arista Records. At the 25th Annual Grammy Awards in 1983, Eye in the Sky was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album. In 2019, the album won the Grammy Award for Best Immersive Audio Album at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. The Alan Parsons Project was a British rock group active from 1975 until 1990, founded by Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson both from London, England. The group is based on a number of regular group members such as Stuart Elliot and Ian Bairnson, complemented with varying lead vocals such as Colin Blunstone the Zombies, Chris Rainbow and Gary Brooker Procol Harum. The group is well known for its concept albums, which cover themes such as Edgar Allan Poe, Gaudi, and Freud. Eric Woolfson wrote most of the music and lyrics while Alan Parsons overviewed the production process. Prior read more. Alan Parsons did cop to a 1984 association on the album as a whole, telling Top 2000 a gogo: We wanted to base the album on the sort of concept of big brother is watching you - there's always a camera watching you, there's always a helicopter in the sky overseeing you, and you can read a line of small newspaper print. The cover art to the album Eye in the Sky - this song is the title track - has the famous Egyptian symbol of the eye of Horus. Horus was one of the bird-headed Egyptian gods, with the head of a falcon. The eye symbol itself - in ironic contradiction to the lyrics - meant protection, power, and health. The Project never shied away from hooks, whether it was on the tense white funk of I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You or the gleaming pop hooks of Games People Play, but Eye in the Sky was soft and smooth, so smooth that it was easy to ignore that the narrator of the title track was an ominous omniscient who spied. either on his lover or his populace, depending on how deeply you wanted to delve into the concepts of this album.
