Diary is the debut studio album by American rock band Sunny Day Real Estate. The album is considered by many to be a defining emo album of the second wave, otherwise known as Midwest emo. It has also been called the missing link between post-hardcore and the nascent emo genre. In 1994, the band released their debut album Diary on Sub Pop Records to critical acclaim. However, shortly after releasing their second album LP2, the band broke up, with members Nate Mendel and William Goldsmith joining Foo Fighters and Jeremy Enigk embarking on a solo career.
