Info
The Blue Hour is the eighth studio album by English alternative rock band Suede. The album was released on 21 September 2018. It was the first Suede album since A New Morning not to be produced by longtime producer Ed Buller, and the first to be produced by Alan Moulder. The concept for The Blue Hour began in May 2016, when lead singer Brett Anderson, guitarist Richard Oakes and keyboardist Neil Codling wrote the song Mistress a song about a boy's realisation of his father's affair. The Blue Hour is the eighth studio album by an English britpop band Suede. Produced by Alan Moulder and the band itself, the record is the final part of the triptych of albums since Suede reformed and released 2013s Bloodsports. The Blue Hour features a choir, a spoken word, as well as the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Alongside with the announcement, the first album trailer was released. Brett Anderson, the lead singer, told NME about the songwriting process: It took about a year to write. Truth be told, Suede always stood slightly apart from the Brit-pop pack, sounding a little too louche and glamorous to be part of it, but this decadent romanticism also serves them well in middle age, as it offers avenues for exploration and reflection - avenues that the band seize here. The Blue Hour isn't as streamlined and assured as Night Thoughts, which wound up as an elegant refinement of the ideas offered on Dog Man Star, yet that's its charm. The album sees Suede embrace goth, heavy metal, and punk, spoken work, field recordings and monastic chanting, but somehow it all album sees Suede embrace goth, heavy metal, and punk, spoken work, field recordings and monastic chanting, but somehow it all works. Another great Suede post-comeback album. Highlights include 'As One', 'Beyond the Outskirts', 'Cold Hands', 'Life is Golden', 'Don't be Afraid if Nobody Loves You'. Genre: Alternative Rock. In its conceit, its ambition, its willingness to frequently open itself up to ridicule, The Blue Hour is a towering, frightening, squalid and inspirational work of art. Full Review. Best of 2018.
