Released: Mar Birgersson, better known by his stage name Solar Fields, is a Swedish electronic music artist. As of 2014, he has released fifteen albums, and has also scored all interactive in-game music for the Electronic Arts game Mirror's Edge as well as its sequel, Mirror's Edge Catalyst. His latest album, Origin03, was released on 1 June 2019. Gothenburg-based Swedish composer, sound designer, and multi-instrumentalist Magnus Birgersson created Solar Fields in the late 1990s. Ourdom is a beautiful album but somehow it hasn't strike me as strongly as all his past material did. I find myself only occasionally listening to it and haven't truly fallen in love with it. Ourdom, the very recent release by Magnus Birgersson aka Solar Fields is no exception - but apart from the polished technical elements, the musical aspects of the just-under 80-minutes-long album don't let expecting fans down either. In today's collapsing attention span, shrinking to almost a singularity, it is quite uplifting to see an artist trusting us with well-structured, seamlessly flowing long pieces in the vein of the epics by Klaus Schulze. The Swedish psybienttrance composer Solar Fields has become one of the most easily recognizable artists in the genre due to the constant high quality output released as well as multiple appearances on several soundtracks or compilations over the years. The moment I read Magnus Birgersson recorded most of Ourdom in South Africa in a rather pastoral environment a wooden house on a coastline, I expected it to be a mostly ambient affair. It is indeed a relaxed record, however, the man focused on dynamics too, so we're treated to another trademark sonic roller coaster
