Out for the Count is the third album by Show of Hands, released in 1991 on cassette, and is the last of their cassette-only releases. Songs from Out for the Count appear on the band's album Backlog 1987-1991 in 1995, containing songs from the band's early material. This is due to Out for the Count going out of print.

Out for the Count is the third album by Show of Hands. The album follows Phil Beer's departure from The Albion Band in 1990, allowing Show of Hands to become a full-time partnership. Recorded straight to Digital Audio Tape in The Old Court, Devon, in 1991, the duo released the album later on in the year on cassette, becoming the final of their cassette-only releases. Out for the Count, also on cassette, followed the same year. Recorded at Beers Old Court Studio in Gloucestershire, it again quickly sold out at gigs. Displaying their trust in the people who came to see them, Show of Hands would simply put the cassettes in a tub and say: If youd like one, take one, but bung in a fiver. Early collaboration. 1994 saw the release of Show of Hands first compilation album. Favourite tracks from the first three cassettes were repackaged on CD: Backlog 19871991. Isis 1994. Demonstrating their commitment to their audience and to music itself, Show of Hands embarked on their first 'workshop tour' in February 1995. Show of Hands is the debut album by English folk duo Show of Hands. The duo formed when Phil Beer took a break from folk rock band The Albion Band, requesting to Steve Knightley that they record a cassette together in Knightley's garage. Knightley, who had recently returned to the duo's native Devon after departing London, agreed, and the duo recorded the album together in January 1987 in Catsley Home, described by Knightley as an outbuilding in the remotest part of Dorset. The album contains twelve. By 1995, Out for the Count and the duo's first two albums were out of print, so the duo released the compilation album Backlog 19871991 1995 containing material from the three albums, including five songs from Out for the Count. It is the only Show of Hands album to not have any of its songs featured on Roots: The Best of Show of Hands, however several of their albums that do have a song featured were re-recorded for the compilation.
