Info
Dust is the seventh and final studio album by Screaming Trees, released on June 25, 1996. After an aborted attempt at recording a followup to Sweet Oblivion with producer Don Fleming, the band hired producer George Drakoulias to man the controls for what eventually turned out to be their last album. In contrast to the group's previous recordings that were more influenced by psychedelic rock and punk rock, Dust contains music that is equally influenced by folk and blues, while still retaining a harder. Screaming Trees. Alternative 1996. This 1996 album revives the mucky psychedelia of their early years in rural Washington and reinvigorates it with their newfound confidence as a stadium-rock superpower. Halo of Ashes should have been one of the big hits of the mid-'90s: it applies Nirvana's sonic disposition to the swirling momentum of The Beatles Tomorrow Never Knows. For what it's worth, it serves as a culmination of all their past work and influences, but in the end, 'Dust' is just a fantastic rock album. I can't emphasize enough that this isn't quite the same Screaming Trees that recorded in the 80's, which should be apparent enough as the rocking guitar line in opener 'Halo of Ashes' kicks the album off. From that, the listener can also tell that 'Dust' retains the similar hard rock edge of its predecessor, 'Sweet Oblivion'. Band Name Screaming Trees. Album Name Dust. Type Album. Released date 1996.
