Calling the World is the second studio album by American alternative rock band Rooney. It was released on July 17, 2007. The album is the result of almost three years of recording, with over 50 songs recorded during the sessions. When Did Your Heart Go Missing, was released as the lead single. The album was produced by John Strawberry Fields. Rooney unveiled tracks from the album at a series of Monday night concerts in Los Angeles during March. The cover is a recreation of the cover to the self. Four years passed between Rooney's self-titled debut and its follow-up, Calling the World - virtually a lifetime when it comes to many listeners' attention spans. The band spent that time recording and scrapping two albums' worth of material and dealing with label problems while waiting so long to release new music was a risky move, it probably wasn't as risky as releasing music they didn't believe in completely. If Rooney earns points for cleverness by starting this LP with a collage of ringtones, the smooth-sailing pop that comes in its wake is similarly coy. The piano work shows an affection for '70s pop heroes, but when they jump ahead a decade with When Did Your Heart Go Missing, they seemingly update a-ha for a modern dance party. By the time power ballad Tell Me Soon comes barreling along with a barn-burning guitar solo and piles of strings, the album is downright epic
