Info

Rappin' Rodney is a comedy album by American comedian Rodney Dangerfield issued by RCA Records in 1983. The title track is a rap-influenced novelty song co-written by J. Moore and Robert Ford Jr. the same songwriters who worked with Kurtis Blow on The Breaks. Dennis Blair co-wrote the song. The accompanying music video, which includes cameos from Pat Benatar and Don Novello as Father Guido Sarducci, was played heavily on MTV at the time of release. Rodney Dangerfield performs in the music video Rappin' Rodney from the album Rappin' Rodney recorded for RCA Victor. Rodney Dangerfield raps about not getting respect at a trail. Later, he is on death row talking to a priest. He is put to death in the electric chair before ending up at the gates of heaven. Later, he awakens in bed from a nightmare. See full summary . The one thing that everyone remembers about Rappin' Rodney, Rodney Dangerfield's second album, is the title track, his novelty parody of rap. It might have been funny at the time, but it sounds hopelessly clueless and dated these days. Dangerfield's comedy - portions of his live act at Catch a Rising Star are presented here - has aged better, but his schtick is too watered-down to capture the wild, offensive humor that is at the heart of his comedy. It's not bad as a cultural artifact, but Rappin' Rodney isn't a particularly funny record. Anyone can repeat a Rodney Dangerfield joke, but no one can tell one quite like the man himself. In his autobiography, Its Not Easy Bein Me , we get a rare glimpse into the events that shaped Rodneys perspective and propelled his career. If its history you want, thats a good place to start.
