The problem with this album as with nearly all of Miss Flack's Lps, is that it is of two minds. The first side kicks off with a down-in-the-bar version of Gene McDaniels' "Reverend Lee", and follows with wonderful re-workings of Jim Webb, Bob Dylan and Everly Brothers classics. It's shaping into a soulful groove, right? Then, Side 2. Starts out with a great Donny Hathaway, Curtis Mayfield, Leroy Hutson track, but then drops off a cliff into Broadway show territory, with terrible, dowdy covers of Buffy St. Marie's "Until It's Time For You To Go" (Neil Diamond did it better, and that's saying something!), the awful "The Impossible Dream", and the Vietnam protest "Business Goes On As Usual", after which you're (1) certain that Roberta has never been and will never be a Soul singer, and (2) ready to slit your wrists. Stick to Side 1 and you're fine; then put it away instead of flipping it over.

I agree 100%, but in any case - this album is worth having in the collection.P. S. I'm not much of a RF fan.
