Completed in 1940, it is Sergei Rachmaninoff's last major composition. Rachmaninoff composed the Symphonic Dances four years after his Third Symphony, mostly at the Honeyman estate, Orchard Point, in Centerport, New York, overlooking Long Island Sound.
