The band was formed by and consisted of Darlene Steinhardt later marrying to become Zschech the Hillsong worship pastor, Peter Beveridge and David Holmes. HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I usually shortened to HIStory is the ninth studio album by American recording artist Michael Jackson. It was released on July 16, 1995 by Epic Records. This is Jackson's first album on his own label, MJJ Productions, and consists of two discs: the first disc HIStory Begins is a compilation of some of his greatest hits from 1979 forward, while the second disc HIStory Continues is composed entirely of new material. Titled HIStory Begins, the first disc is a collection of his post-Motown hits, featuring some of the greatest music in pop history, including Billie Jean, Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, Beat It, and Rock with You. HIStory Continues is easily the most personal album Jackson has recorded. References to the scandal permeate almost every song, creating a thick atmosphere of paranoia. If Jackson's music had been the equal of Thriller or Bad, the nervous, vindictive lyrics wouldn't have been quite as overbearing. Throughout HIStory were reminded of the Michael Jackson who helped groove music go mainstream with Off the Wall, fused high-tech New Wave and Caribbean rhythms with the aid of producer Quincy Jones on Thriller and Bad, and communed with trancelike 90s soul and New Jack Swing inventor Teddy Riley on 1991s underpraised Dangerous. But the bulk of HIStory doesnt feel as contemporary as the Scream video, in which Michael and his sister Janet jump around like 90s fashion kids trapped in a spaceship stolen from a Barbarella film set. These songs make History the most autobiographical of Michael's albums. Music critics say that off the wall was Michael's first adult album, but I think that it is in History disk two that we really see Michael in all the fullness of his mature, adult self. By saying this, I do NOT mean that Michael was not mature or adult before
