Peter Andrew Buffett born May 4, 1958 is an American musician, composer, author and philanthropist. With a career that spans more than 30 years, Peter is an Emmy Award winner, New York Times best-selling author and co-chair of the NoVo Foundation. He is the youngest son of billionaire investor Warren Buffett. Buffett began his musical career in the early part of the 1980s in San Francisco. There, he recorded and produced albums for local talent. He also was hired by ad agencies to compose. The first sign of the Native American color that would dominate much of his later works surfaces on the seventh track Promises. It's a very pleasant and jazzy track. The rest of the album is good too but these three songs are the highlights for me. One By One is a great album to own and is worth searching for. This album does not touch the haunting and stunning beauty that became 1992's Yonnondio nor does it even come close to the heartbreaking, and life-altering adventure that was 1994's 500 Nations but still One By One". Picking up the clean, focused sound and attitude of There Is Nothing Left to Lose, One by One is gleaming hard rock: it may have a shiny production, but hits hard in its rhythm and its impeccably distorted guitars. Dave Grohl's songs often express or at least suggest tortured emotions in their lyrics, but the album doesn't hit at a gut-level it's too polished for that. It's not a bad thing, since the band is damn good and the production is more focused than any of the Foos' previous albums. Right now, the Foos are so polished you can see right through them. One by One is a particularly apt title for their fourth radio-ready shout-along: slowly, inevitably, the last rough edge of the Foo Fighters' sound has been buffed away, leaving most of these songs with a palpable emptiness. Now, I'd be deceiving you if I didn't say that there was a saving grace to One by One. It's a scary, awful sort of saving grace, but you take what you can get.
