Info
Idlewild is the sixth and final studio album by American hip hop duo Outkast. It was released on August 22, 2006, by LaFace Records and served as the soundtrack album to the duo's musical film of the same name, which was released that same month. Containing themes relating to the music industry, the album also featured songs not included in the film while incorporating jazz, blues, swing, and soul styles in its music. Along the way, OutKast's first movie took on an entirely different shape, from Aquemini to Idlewild, and the duo attained enough star power to gain the support of HBO and Universal. After a series of delays with its soundtrack, Idlewild reached theaters in August 2006. Set in the prohibition era, Big Boi plays a speakeasy owner, while Dré is the relatively introverted piano-playing son of a mortician. Released April 22, 2006. Idlewild Tracklist. Intro Idlewild Ft. The Cab Calloway-inspired Mighty O was the first single released from the project followed by the solo singles from Big Boi Morris Brown and André 3000 Idlewild Blue Don'tchu Worry Bout Me The album debuted at 2 on the Billboard 200 and achieved platinum status. Idlewild Q&A. Album 2006 25 Songs. So where does Idlewild, Outkasts fifth full-length and the nominal soundtrack to the film of the same name, find our heroes After teasing fans with the glorious, nostalgia- inducing throwback of album opener Mighty O, Andre and Big Boi re-immerse themselves in the dazzling no holds barred eclecticism of SpeakerboxxxThe Love Below, embracing Stax- style soul The Train , 21st-century blues Idlewild Blue , twisted vaudeville showstoppers Life Is Like a Musical , and all points in. Listen free to OutKast Idlewild. Genre: Hip Hop. I am however glad that OutKast ended off their discography before their music too bloated or uninteresting, and we get to truly appreciate the duo. Drags on a little, but still enjoyable. If your worst album is a 78, you got skills. Idlewild, though just a soundtrack for the duos big screen vehicle of the same name and therefore, somewhat non-canonical, essentially represents a low-point in the OutKast catalogue. And though most hip-hop artists would kill to have an album like Idlewild as a career low-point, OutKast, given all their well-deserved critical and popular acclaim, can do much better than this. Of course, its a contentious point to say that everything OutKast was always roses up until now. But for a good duration of the groups career, OutKast has enjoyed unabashed success on all fronts. That success certai. Idlewild is the sixth studio album by American hip hop duo OutKast, released August 22, 2006 on LaFace Records. It also serves as the soundtrack album new album from Outkast shows the growing range of two artist who have since departed in their musical taste, or so it seems. probably media hype . I for one am a fan of hearing Andre' 3000 rapping not singing. but, I must admit that I have grown use to hearing Andre' in croon mode that I no longer miss his rapping. On this adventure to Idlewild what I have grown to appreciate, is a album that screams liberation. it kind of puts me in the mind of listening to London Hip-Hop due to the range. Although this is not no Atliens, or Aquemini by any measure. it is still a solid album. Stand out cuts to me, are. Mighty O. Idlewild Blue. n2U. Morris Brown.
