Monster is the tenth studio album by the German band Oomph. The band held a contest for fans to create the cover art for the album, similar to the contest for Korn's album Issues. The winning artwork was chosen by the band and presented on Oomph's MySpace page on 23 July 2008. The first single, Wach auf, was released early in 2008 as a promo for the movie Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. Monster is the tenth album by long-standing German industrial rockers Oomph Since their beginnings in 1989, Oomph have largely stuck with their industrial sound of buzzsaw guitars, crashing drums, and harsh vocals by the 2000s, however, they also began to expand their sound, with clean sung vocals, distinctive melodic choruses, and synth pop inflections. Monster, issued in 2008, was something of a summation of various facets of Oomph sound: it was simultaneously heavy and melodic, brutal and elastic, guitar-oriented and synthetic.
